George Troia, Jr. Joined the Detroit Federation of Musicians, AFM Local 5 in 1971 and has served as its President Since May,2012.

Prior to that, he served as an Executive Board member- two terms, Theatre Musicians Association (TMA) Detroit Chapter President for eight terms, and National TMA Vice President- Emeritus.

As a trombonist, he has performed for more than fifty years in venues locally, nationally and internationally. Also, a member of the Detroit Federation of Teachers, AFT Local 231 -retired, St Aloysius Catholic Church and the Fifty States Marathon Club-Finisher 2015.
