Musicians Entertainment
Clay hails from Detroit, Michigan, the birthplace of legendary Motown
Records, which has always been a talent hotbed. Clay began studying
trumpet and piano at a very young age, and when he was just in 7th grade, he began arranging music on notebook paper. By the time prodigious Clay grew up and left Detroit, he had shared stages with Gladys Knight and the pips, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Peaches & Herb, Rudy Ray Moore, The Delfonics, Bobby Womack, Wilson Pickett and Aretha Franklin, to name a few Soul Legends. These experiences gave him a love for performing and feeling for gospel, jazz and rhythm and blues. In 1975, Clay ventured to the Washington, D.C. area to work with two Englishmen in a variety act called Touch. This exposed Clay to rock 'n' roll, pop and country music. After leaving Touch, Clay began working alone, playing piano bars around Washington, D.C. This experience gave him show tunes and sing-alongs. He mastered the forgotten art of taking requests at the piano. Having lived in Texas for the past seven years, he has now added blues and Latin music to his repertoire. Clay believes that he has more diversity than any other entertainer in the world. He proudly asserts that karaoke may be the only entertainment entity that is more diverse, and even that is debatable! Today, Clay is a seasoned entertainer at the piano and keyboards with national and international exposure, including Great Britain, Scandinavia, France, Spain and Italy. He radiates a confidence and charisma that only an entertainer of his experience can. Yet none of the aforementioned qualities are what make Clay Robinson, "The Great Entertainer," great. What makes him great is that he makes cash registers ring. |
